The song is her second leader, and first to debut on top. Her \u201cPlease Please Please\u201d spent a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/sabrina-carpenter-please-please-please-number-1-hot-100\/\">week atop the ranking<\/a>&nbsp;in June 2024, rising from the runner-up spot in its second week on the chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cManchild,\u201d also Carpenter\u2019s fourth Hot 100 top 10, introduces her next album,&nbsp;<em>Man\u2019s Best Friend<\/em>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/music-news\/sabrina-carpenter-mans-best-friend-album-release-1235996345\/\">due Aug. 29<\/a>. \u201ci can\u2019t wait for it to be yours x,\u201d she wrote of the set on Instagram on June 11; it is scheduled to arrive just more than year since her prior LP,&nbsp;<em>Short n\u2019 Sweet<\/em>, which was released Aug. 23, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carpenter notched her first three Hot 100 top 10s from&nbsp;<em>Short n\u2019 Sweet<\/em>, with \u201cPlease Please Please\u201d preceded by the No. 3-peaking \u201cEspresso\u201d and followed by \u201cTaste,\u201d which hit No. 2. As those three songs charted in the top five together upon the debut of \u201cTaste,\u201d she became the second act ever to chart her first three top five hits in the region simultaneously \u2013 joining only The Beatles for the feat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Carpenter is the only woman artist with multiple Hot 100 No. 1s dating to the coronation of \u201cPlease Please Please.\u201d She is also the only woman to reign with a nonseasonal song and with no billed collaborators in that span.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cManchild,\u201d on Island Records and being promoted to radio by Republic, is the 1,182nd No. 1 in the Hot 100\u2019s 66-year history, and the 85th to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/photos\/billboard-hot-100-number-1-song-debuts-426225\/\">debut at the summit<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 and the first No. 1 entrance for Island. Carpenter co-produced the song with Jack Antonoff and co-wrote it with Antonoff and Amy Allen. It opens at No. 3 on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/digital-song-sales\/\">Digital Song Sales<\/a>\u00a0with 6,000 downloads sold; it also sold 14,000 copies on 7-inch vinyl, on which it was released with the exclusive instrumental B-side, \u201cInside of Your Head When You\u2019ve Just Won an Argument with a Man.\u201d (\u201cManchild\u201d is the top-selling song of the week overall.) Still, it adds a seventh week at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales (7,000 sold) and gained by 12% to 54 million in airplay audience. It also claims a third week at No. 1 on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/summer-songs\">Songs of the Summer<\/a>\u00a0chart.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/morgan-wallen-im-the-problem-month-number-one-billboard-200-1235999718\/\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Morgan Wallen\u2019s \u201cWhat I Want,\u201d featuring Tate McRae, dips 2-3 on the Hot 100, three weeks after it&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/morgan-wallen-tate-mcrae-what-i-want-hot-100-number-1-debut\/\">roared in<\/a>&nbsp;as Wallen\u2019s fourth No. 1 and McRae\u2019s first. It also tops the multimetric&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/country-songs\/\">Hot Country Songs<\/a>&nbsp;chart for a fourth week. Wallen follows on the Hot 100 with the No. 2-peaking \u201cJust in Case\u201d (3-4) and \u201cI\u2019m the Problem\u201d (5-6), as&nbsp;<em>I\u2019m the Problem<\/em>, the parent set of all three songs, posts a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/morgan-wallen-im-the-problem-month-number-one-billboard-200-1235999718\/\">fourth week at No. 1<\/a>&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/billboard-200\/\">Billboard 200<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kendrick Lamar and SZA\u2019s \u201cLuther\u201d descends 4-5 after 13 weeks atop the Hot 100 beginning in March. It adds a 25th week at No. 1 on both the multimetric&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/r-b-hip-hop-songs\/\">Hot R&amp;B\/Hip-Hop Songs<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/charts\/rap-song\/\">Hot Rap Songs<\/a>&nbsp;charts, extending the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/chart-beat\/kendrick-lamar-sza-luther-breaks-record-rb-hip-hop-songs-chart-1235988986\/\">longest reign<\/a>&nbsp;on Hot R&amp;B\/Hip-Hop Songs (dating to October 1958, when the chart became the genre\u2019s all-encompassing songs ranking).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shaboozey\u2019s \u201cA Bar Song (Tipsy)\u201d wobbles 6-7 on the Hot 100, following its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/shaboozey-a-bar-song-tipsy-hot-100-number-one-record-19-weeks\/\">record-tying 19 weeks at No. 1<\/a>&nbsp;beginning last July, and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars\u2019 \u201cDie With a Smile\u201d backtracks 7-8 after five weeks at No. 1 starting in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teddy Swims\u2019 \u201cLose Control,\u201d which led the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024, and became the year\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/hot-100-year-end-chart-teddy-swims-taylor-swift-republic\/\">No. 1 song<\/a>, falls 8-9.
